I'm new here and looking for advise. I have been out of the country for 20+ year and have just come back as the kids really wanted to try school in Canada for the year and my marriage has had its issues so a little stability for me and the kids seemed like a good idea. My husband is European and is here as a visitor as he will be coming and going visiting us. I am not working and basically living from my savings and funds from my husband.

Does he have to file taxes? Do we file together or do I file alone? I do not have an income and he is paid in dividends from companies he overseas abroad. Will all of his income be taxable or only what he is paid while he is staying in Canada? Do I have to pay tax on any support he provides to us?

Any advise would be great.
thanks

Since he is not yet a resident of Canada, you would have to file a tax return alone. You don't need to pay tax on the supporting he provides.
