for minimum income, does CIC officer looks for the same amount as net income as tax return?

Hi, is it possible to meet minimum low cutoff for sponsoring a parent, but with no or little income tax associated? i am self employed so the income can be reported with some flexibility.

They will look at the gross income on your tax return (i.e. income before taxes).

You are supposed to report all of the income you earn on your tax return (including all self employed income). If you didn't report some of your income on your tax return then I'm not sure CIC will believe you actually earned it.

Agreed. If you are submitting an "Option C" printout with your application. They will see "gross reported income".

yes, you don't want to seem like your cheating your taxes when your essential taking on the financial responsibility of someone else
