Memorandum of understanding signed by CICA and Pakistan institute

The CICA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) to provide a clear path for members of one body to become eligible for membership in the other. The agreement was signed by the CICA on behalf of the provincial and territorial institutes of chartered accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda.
The MOU recognizes that there is substantial equivalency in the core knowledge component of the accounting education for CAs in both countries and will reduce the admissions requirements for qualified CAs from Pakistan. The CICA will work with the ICAP to help continue the development of its qualification process.
Under the MOU:
•An ICAP member who holds a recognized university degree will be eligible to become a Canadian CA by passing the Canadian Uniform Evaluation (UFE), which is offered annually in Canada. In addition, the candidate must meet the profession's experience requirements.
•Individuals with a Canadian CA designation will be eligible to become an ICAP member by passing the ICAP's examinations in Advanced Taxation and Corporate Laws

Probably this means that they might also start to recognize the experience gained in Pakistan as well. :) ;) :D

I'm a PaK CA and B.Com as well as ACCA. It says you have to hold a recognized uni degree, does Pakistan's 2 yr B.Com degree count as recognized uni degree?

To my knowledge and understanding B.Com from Pakistan does not constitute an equivalent bachelors degree. If you are an ACCA you can get Oxford Brookes BSc in applied accounting by writing a simple research project. CGA Canada and many other university accepts it as equivalent Bachelor degree. Or alternatively you can consider doing MA (Economics) from Karachi University. This two year masters program along with B.Com will suffice the graduation requirement of CICA.

Further with reference to my post above, you can check with your local Pakistani Embassy (in case you are outside Pakistan) if you can register and take the exam for MA at the Embassy rather than travelling to Pakistan.
