This article will get you thinking...

Makes you wonder why the CIC introduced the 2-year relationship rule just a few months ago. Seems like a no-brainer this should have been done many years ago.

That is so sad... just to feel used like that.

and this is why we wait so long and get so scrutinized. This is so bad.

There should be new clauses put in place at least if they cant predate these things.

i feel so bad for this women and for every single victims of marriage fraud. what a world people are so selfish. :-[ thanks for sharing

that was so sad ! How do we really ever know ? People say...."listen to your gut" I have listened to my gut too many times and been wrong.

Unless you are psycic- it could happen to anyone !

Karma will follow him.

I know most Cubans are good people, I have to be honest, I have heard of many similar cases involving Cubans.

Just one thing that I dont quite grasp. I know Canadians are on the hook for 3 years.......why would anyone prefer to sit on welfare ? my understanding is that it pays about $600.00 month plus benefits.

How horrible - the poor women. I hope they get his a** and he gets deported back to Cuba. I am so glad they began the two year rule. It definitely wont solve everything but it sure as heck makes it all that much harder for those frauds.

Unfortunately there are people both male and female from all over that could potentially do the same thing, it's not just limited to the one nationality and gender.

they can take welfare and always work under table ,which is extra cash and sponsored person can also go on wf out of anger because they know the sponsor must pay it back to the government. i think the law still suck .. they need to just kick anyone who is no longer with sponsor that is itt

There was an article months back about a man whose bride ran off after the wedding. She racked up $25,000 in one year in social assistance. Apparently they know a trick we don't.

There must be a story behind this. Its just weird that he left after 3 days unless he had family here.

interesting. So the new Immigrant must stay with their spouse ? For how long ? Thats not going to work here.

Doesn't this only apply if the couple have not already got a number of years behind them? Or kids...

dont know wetherto laugh or cry ! Just a thought.... why not get a letter drawn up by a lawyer saying they will have to pay back any and all expenses incured by sponsor.

I know its not the nicest thing to do, but fair minded people will see the need.

Condition PR - Only applies to applications recieved on or after Oct 2012. (Yes I forget the exact day.)

- if you have kids you're exempt
- if you were married more than two years BEFORE filing, you are exempt
- there was a line about being together four years or more before filing also being exempt, but that seems to have poofed. Not sure if this is true or not.

So if you're married under two years without children, you must remain in a real relationship (i. e., living together, regular "adult" contact, etc) for a minimum of two years after landing.

There are also exemptions for abusive spouses (not sure how that will work yet) and considerations in the event of the death of a spouse.

Basically, there's no one who has landed yet that will be under Conditional PR. The fastest VOs put applications through at 4 months, so the end of Feb, we may begin to see some Conditional PRs approved.

I think if married, OR common-law or conjugal for 2 years... you are exempt.
