A PR card can be mailed once received by a relative or friend to any address. So should not be a issue if you stay for just 5-7 days and come back too.... There is no guarantee that your PR will land in 45-60 days, it may take even 90 days at times.... usually your COPR may hold good to go back, but PR card in hand is easier.

On the other hand, job has not guarantees unless you are having a confirmed job before landing.. All of us will be sailing in same boat...

its wise to stay and get you PR card atleast. 30 to 45 days. no idea if you can get it by courier or through someone in canada.
regarding job opportunities, no one can give you a guarantee that you will get your "dream salary" job immediately upon landing. it will depend upon your luck, networking, timing and faith in god. it could take more time than you expect.

My younger brother got his Maple leaf today and would be flying to Vancouver on 10th Jan ( visa expires on 30th Jan 2014) . tickets to be confirmed tomorrow.

He is flying from India .
My sister is there to pick him up. and after staying for 3 days he will move to edmonton ( another sisters house) .

have to appreciate that your brother arranged for his flight in such less time.
if he is going to settle in edmonton, he should first land in edmonton, get his alberta health card, SIN card, PR card and then go to vancouver.

yes, PR card is the most important federal identity document, that we all should collect IMMEDIATELY upon landing, and then make other plans, if any.
the current time to get our PR card is max 45 days.

Flights was ok to book but edmonton was way costlier so he opted for Vancouver with less travel time from India.
Main concern is landing and after that he can manage all of the SIN or other cards.( the whole family is there .)
The start is important.

its a relief for your brother that his family is there, where he can get all necessary help upon landing. smart choice.

i have got a new pair of Thermal Wear. also have a woolen sweater and a winter jacket. let's see how all this stuff perform in chilly winter of alberta. if they do not keep me warm enough, i will buy new winter clothes from calgary airport itself.

As I have experienced the snow when I was in US & Germany,I can understand your excitement as well..Its worth enjoying ..especially when it comes in the forms of flurries and you are new to the weather and the places as well..and It's not that bad either in the chilly weather as I have always enjoyed the chilled weather & if it is freezing,-10 or -20 degree..Remember also ,wearing clothes in layers will help you much rather than carrying heavy jackets itself..
I am also pretty excited as time is passing by and departure time is coming closer and closer ..
