Are you in Canada to flagpole? If not, do you have TRVs? Kids don’t need study permits if they are in Canada now.

Hi Nat,
I was in Canada as visitor had plans to drop my wife and take back kids. But current situation is that kids don't want to leave mom and go back to India. They were born in Gulf and lived in India for year which they don't like it at all specially frequent power cuts, traffic, pollution and much more.
Any how in this story I gradually lost job in IT which I had in India, So current plan is to stay with wife until she finishes her Master's.
Yes, we have TRV's which is Tourist Visa I suppose.
Schools are asking for kids study permits.
I want to get OWP via flagpoll, I already applied online but things are taking much of time.
Wife also got her study permit until Dec 22 when we landed on Airport, as her PP was expiring in Dec'22. I also applied online for her study permit renewal as well.
So Currently I want to extend her study permit with her new PP in hand, Take my work permit, and apply for kids study permit.
Your kind thoughts would be much appriciated.

Thanks & Regards,
M. Sami

Don’t believe kids can get study permits at the border but others should clarify. It is very early for your wife to be extending her study permit. She should apply online when she starts her Fall semester with proof she is still registered. Permits are not guaranteed for spouses of international students. I find it very unlikely that your whole family would have flown to Canada with no intention of remaining in Canada. That is a huge expense and unnecessary health risks given the pandemic. The border agents and IRCC are not stupid and know that people indicate that their family will not be accompanying them because their chances of approval are increased although they plan on applying for their family to come to Canada. If they get approved. It is best to be honest. You should be able to provide proof that you have the extra funds to support your family as well as your wife’s studies in case you aren’t able to find employment.
