First time applicant queries

Hi,

I am applying for a tourist visa to visit my sister and attend the christening of my niece. I will be coming along with our mom. My sister and her husband will be sending the invitation letter and will be covering all the expenses from flight to living expenses while staying there. If that's the case, is there a requirement on how much I should have on my account?

Also, would it matter if I will be the primary applicant and my mom will be added under "family member" category? Just got confused with the definition posted as to who is/are considered family members.

And lastly, with regards to form IMM5713, would it be fine if my mom (senior years and retired) would authorize me to process the application on her behalf? It does not say anything about giving authority to son/daughter. So i am worried that our application might get denied due to this.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

In general, TRV applicants have to show that they can afford the trip themselves, without any “sponsorship”. If not, chances of approval are considerably lower. You have to show funds of at least CA$1k per person per week of stay plus airfare for yourself. We noticed that parents may be relieved of this guideline if their kids are sponsoring them with ample funds. You must show your own bank accounts and employment record. If your sister is sponsoring you and your mom, then you also have to show their bank accounts and/or T4s (tax returns), assets, and employment records. Also suggest you prepare a daily itinerary and daily budget of expenses for your proposed stay.

Family members are defined as an applicant’s spouse and minor children. You and your mom have to file independent applications.

Yes you can file your mom’s application on her behalf, and no, that won’t be a reason for denial at all.

Hi,

I would just like to verify if this question (Do you depend on someone for financial support?) pertains to when I am already in Canada or while I am still in my home country?

My answer for both would be different. If in Canada, Yes (as my sister and her husband would cover everything during my stay) and if in the Philippines, No (I support my own needs as I have work).

Also for the form IMM5645 (Family Information form), can i include my brother in law who will also be responsible in covering the expenses for my stay along with my sister ?

Strong financial proof, up to $ 10.000
Stable good job for more than 8 years
Family business
Children, husband
Parents
Property

Second part- In Canada:

Tax return
Employment letter
Invitation letter
Reason- family celebration.

Short straight to the point.

If you don't have strong ties to your country, nothing can help even from Canada

Yup I do have those docs, from land titles and property related docs, stable income supporting docs, regular employment for several years and a letter from my employer that my leave is just for a specific period of time.

I guess what i'm after is on the questionnaire itself. Since my sister will be sponsoring the entire trip for me to attend the baptism celebration, so i am not so sure if the question i have indicated earlier refers to that or not. So i could choose the appropriate answer to that question.

Family information, include you. Your partner, if you have one, parents, children if you have children, your siblings, which is your sister. Do not include your brother in law to this form.

His name will be at the other form asking you who are you visiting. Sister's name again and her husband's name.

Hi,

I am currently filling out form IMM5257 E, page 3 under the employment section where it asks for the past 10 years of my employment history. Unfortunately, the space is not enough. So i made another soft copy of that page alone to accommodate the rest of the information. Now i am not sure how i can combine the 2 files.

I have clicked on the validate button and there were barcodes at the last page. Will it be distorted if i get them printed and scanned again? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Right now, I'm filling out the same form (imm 5257e) for my mom. On the employment field, it says to indicate if the applicant is retired or not working. However I have no clue where to indicate that. Should i put on entry #1 under occupation as "retired" then n/a for the rest? If so, will it be fine to put the date when she started her retirement period on the "To" field?
