Hi,
I would be getting my VISA issued passport by the end of this week from CHC, New Delhi.
As I reside in Dubai, UAE some body would be carrying it over on my behalf.

As there is a change in my fathers surname I would be changing my surname too on the passport.
If at all I change my name before my first travel to Canada would there be an issue after landing?
OR Is it better if I travel with the existing name and obtain my first PR card in the old name and later on change my name and get my PR card name changed?
Which among the above two options are best advised? or is there a better alternative in getting the name changed.

Earnestly anticipating a clear solution to my problem.

Thanks and Regards,
Alex Johnson

Alex if im getting right then you have submitted ur passport to CHC New Delhi for visa stamping and immigration visa will be stamped on submitted passport with passport no and name etc, on top of this there will be another document called CORP(Confirmation of Permanent Residence -IMM5292) with passport no and name etc.

if you try to change name then INDIAN passport/CGI DUBAIi will issue you new passport(new passport no too)and old passport will be cancelled.
As you aware you cannot travel on cancelled passport so automatically ur immigration visa will be void.

i suggest you do ur landing and get ur PR card and think for the changes.

Yea thats what I intended in doing too.
Thanks for the advice.
I would be getting married by the end of May 2012.
Would I be able to submit my application for spouse sponsorship as soon as I land in Canada?
If yes, would showing a Canadian offer letter suffice the funds requirement?

Grt btw how much CHC New Delhi took to return the passport.
