Hi Everyone:

I have a quick question about the PR card- I did my border crossing at Coutts, AB a couple of weeks ago and my understanding is that the first PR card is sent automatically to the applicant and that I don't have to apply for it separately. Can someone confirm this is correct? I am a little unsure and confused with this. Please confirm that after border crossing the PR card will be sent to the home address directly and that no separate application is needed from a new PR. Thank you in advance for the information and help.

Once you land the CBSC officer automatically applies for your card. You don't need to do anything.

I landed in February and yes, there is nothing to fill out to apply for the first PR Card. When you land, the officer will file your landing document and that will automatically be your apllication for the card as well.

In my case, it took about 55 days to receuve the card in the mail after landing.

Nothing to do on your part but wait.

When you apply to renew it, thats when you have to fill out a form, add some documents and pay a fee to get your card renewed.

All the best for your landing.

@doda and @andre_samol : thank you so much for your responses! I greatly appreciate your taking time to respond and for the helpful information!
