Finger prints for Common law application

Hello.

I'm trying to get my Police checks for Australia and New Zealand.

Does anyone know if I need a finger print check for either?

Or just police checks? Is it just some countries where a finger print check is required?

and the requirements for NZ are also on the website. In general there is no need for finger prints, unless they are part of the process for the Police certificate itself, or if you have a very common name apparently.

With the NZ police certificate there is no option to get finger prints, however with the Australian one there is an option. Do any Aussies know if it is required though? or will the police certificate do?

And what is the process? I now live in Canada. Do I need to go somewhere to get my prints done?

From what I understand, the prints are more a special requirement than the generic one. Maybe the Sydney thread will know...
