Finding new job while on maintained (implied) status

Hi team - hoping to get some advice/direction with a situation I've found myself in!

I've recently applied for PR via the CEC route and am currently on maintained status as I wait for a decision on my BOWP. As my original work permit (now expired) was an open permit, am I able to find a new job while I'm on maintained status or do I have to wait for my BOWP to come through? I'm living in Canada but it looks likely I might have to leave my current job soon and will be in need of employment in the near future.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can look for a new job and switch jobs.

Thank you for your response, Scylla! For some reason I thought that you couldn't find a new job while on maintained status - maybe that is for a different PR stream!
It's actually dependent on what time of work permit you were on previously. What implied status does is basically extend the terms of your current work permit while you wait for the BOWP to be processed.

If you had previously been on a closed work permit tied to a specific employer, implied status would have only allowed you to continue to work for that employer (until the BOWP was approved).

Since you previously held an open work permit, this is still the status you can operate under while on implied status.
