I would like ask if I can resign from my current position to find another job. I work now as Food Counter Attendant but I am a mechanic. I am still with a contract in this fast food company. Is it illegal to resign if not finished with my contract? How can I explain to my employer that i need to resign. Please help me forum mates. im here in canada now...

You can certainly resign and look for a new job. However if you want to start working for a different employer, that employer will first have to obtain an approved LMO and then you will have to obtain a new work permit.

Thanks scylla. What will the requirements for a new work permit besides for the LMO. Its difficult for me to work since 13 years I was a mechanic. Please give me hint how to do it.

I'm sorry. I don't understand your question.

If you want to work for a new employer, you will have to go through the same processes you went through with your first employer. First you'll have to find a new employer who is willing to offer you a job. That employer will then have to obtain an approved LMO. Finally, you will have to apply for a new work permit. The process / forms for obtaining this new work permit will be the same as the processes / forms for obtaining your original work permit.

Thank you scylla. I understand it now.

Temporary Work Permit

Is the visa processing and date of joining can do something about the noc code?

Hi B Spice,

I dont think so, NOC is National Occupational Classification (Immigration Canada), I think the recent one is NOC (year 2011 edition)
