Good Morning,
I'm currently attempting to move to Canada to live with my fiance who i've been with for 1 1/2 years. We've looked into a potential sponsorship before our planned wedding of next year through possibly a small civil ceremony. She has recently started a new job after a couple of months of unemployment and I would be without a job as soon as I move. Will that situation hurt our chances of me getting sponsored? The ultimate goal is to start her own business but she is in the planning stages of that as well. What are the financial requirements to sponsor your spouse, if any?

Please advise, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

there is no financial requirement for spouse sponsorship. She only needs to show that she is not on welfare, and she won't go on welfare when you arrive. So as long as she has a job ( or a way to provide for both of you through family etc), then it should be fine.
Good luck,
Sweden

Thank you Sweden. Now, if she goes the self employed route will proof of a business license be enough. She just started her job a week ago and she would rather pursue her own business any ways. should we not apply for sponsorship until 3-4 months from now when the business is up and running?

Nobody can know in advance what is enough for CIC... if she has other assets that will allow her to support you and herself while waiting for her business to flourish, then she could get that as a supplementary proof. The sponsorship is not based on a "minimum income" ( there are no numbers to reach) but more so: you need to prove to CIC that she has the means to support herself, and you.
