Financial Assistance for new immigrants

Hi fellows
I just landed weeks ago, and looking for work. I wanna ask is there any financial assistance applicable to the new immigrants for the period they find a job ie during the searching/ unemployment period?

The whole idea of having the funds (POF) at the time of landing is for sustenance during the first 6 months. And the govt expects you to find some work during this time (may be not in the field you expected, but with research and networking should help).
Having said that you are eligible for any child benefits (if you have kids). If your cash runs out and you need help paying rent, or put food on the table you can also contact NGOs for support. Typically you would fall into government assistance after you file your taxes as that determines your income level.
PS : This is assuming that you landed as a skilled immigrant.
