Being US PR, it took us "just" 6 years, 3 medicals, several security checks and countless letter/email exchanges.
Received a letter from Buffalo to come to the consulate within 15 days to get the visa issued as Quebec Certificate is expiring.

Am planning to go the consulate on the 20th and then drive to Canada. Will travel bacck to the US after staying there for a few days.

Questions:
1) Am assuming I don't need an appointment at the consulate, can just walk in.
2) what are the landing requirements? do I need to take just proof of funds or actuals funds with me for the landing?
3) Can I apply for the SIN and then come back to the US right after?

You need proof of funds like a bank statement. You can apply for SIN right away but you have to have an address to get your SIN card mailed to. Maybe you can get them to hold it and you will pick it up. You also need an address to get your PR card mailed to, preferably with somebody who can send it to you in the US when it arrives so you can use it next time you come to Canada. As a PR, if you don't have your PR card, you need to apply for a PR travel document to go to Canada.

Hi Leon,

I have completed my Landing formalities sometime back (June 2007). Didn't stay back too long and the PR card was not delivered to my relatives address. Now I have firm plans to move to Canada, how do I get the PR Travel Document you just talked about in the previous reply?

Do I need to apply like a fresh visa at the Canadian Consulate? How long for this valid once issued?
Please help.

You need to talk to the consulate/embassy about it. If you have an idea when you are going, you can apply for it but if you don't know for sure, there isn't much point in applying now if the document will expire before you go.
