Hello to all,

Thanks to this forum I am at the final stage for my wifes sponsorship. I brought her into Canada with a TRV while her PR was in process.

She has received her COPR and her interview is arranged at an immigration office in Canada to finalize the entire process and finally receive the PRC.

She is quite worried about the interview. She thinks they will say something she doesn't understand and she will give an incorrect answer.

I'm curious to hear peoples experience with these interviews - did you feel overwhelmed without an interpreter?

Did the interviewers try and accommodate the fact your English wasn't perfect?

What type of questions are asked?

The initial interview to issue the PR was waived - so we aren't sure what we're in store for.

Any answers or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There isn't an "interview", per se. The officer who finalizes her permanent residence by accepting her passport and COPR will basically ask three questions: 1) "are you still in relationship with your sponsor?" 2) "do you have any dependents who were not included on your application?" and 3) "have you committed any crimes?" This is not the same thing as an immigration interview to determine a genuine relationship or anything like that.

They'll ask the questions, ask her to sign her COPR form in a couple of spots, and that's about it. The whole process takes about 15 minutes, and you can be with her to help interpret if that makes her more comfortable.
