I have filled out my section (Part 1) from the Family Class Sponsorship. My wife knows English but has problems writing detailed responses to questions. So she asked me if I can do Part 2 of the Family Class Sponsorship for her. Does she have to fill out the USE OF REPRESENTATIVE form (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5476E.pdf) since I am doing all the answers for her? Please let me know.

Thanks!

I think use of a representative form is just if your using a lawyer to represent you and who's helping you file the papers...

I maybe be wrong,,,, I am not too sure.. sorry

Personally what I did was fill out the detailed application on behalf of my husband, but he speaks good English and can write good English as well,, and I had him sign it at the bottom after he had reviewed it... and he read it and we both looked through it before signing... Because we were both apart, me in Canada and he is in Dubai it make it easier that way...

I don't think its a big deal...

In your case it might be different, I guess you can have it write it in her own language and than you can have it translated..

It is OK for the spouse to help the other spouse fill out the forms. Just make sure she understands the questions and that you are writing down what she wants to say. This way you are just helping her, and will not have to say you are translating for her. If she really needs a complete translator, then CIC doesn't really want a family member to do that. You also don't need to fill up the representative form because of this - that is just if you want all correspondance to go to your representative. You can choose yourself to be the representative.
