wow CONGRATS PAULFERRER!!!

it's really kalurki to look for a job here in canada, if you're not yet registered as a nurse...buti ka pa inabot mo pa yun $178, kasi $678 na my payment eh.. i'm just on the "verification of employment" stage...GOODLUCK!!! ;D ;D ;D

Naku sabi mo pa friend, puro part time lang ako dito eh. hirap sobra, sana magka license na tayo dito. Goodluck din po! I have a
feeling mapapayagan tayo lahat magexam. Kita mo ako nga halos wala pa 3 years experience nung nagsubmit ng forms saka
wala ako masteral eh lumusot naman.

Go Filipinos. Kaya natin to..saka wag tayo makikinig sa mga negative na comments ng mga tao dito sa Canada. wag mo na alalahanin yung 678 friend,
isipin mo nalang it will all be worth it in the end right? GOODLUCK!!!!

hi guys! im a 2nd courser RN. my 1st course was comsci for 4 years then RN for 2 years. PDN for 1.5 years then OR-RR nurse for 2.5 years in a JCI accredited hospital. no masters. i have several questions lang po...

1. based on my credentials, will i be eligible to take the exam or will i need to do the bridging?

2. since i am not yet eligible to take the RN exam, im planning to register as RPN. will working as an RPN have a positive bearing on my RN registration?

3. if i was an RN graduate in the Phils with no experience yet, will i be eligible to sit the RPN exam?

Thanks in advance! ;)

Hi there, I'll try to answer your questions, but I need help from the others if you'll find them inadequate ok?

1. If you read my post a few posts earlier, you'll see that I only have a BSN degree, no masters. three and a half years experience as a full-time
staff nurse at a tertiary hospital, not JCI accredited, just the TUV thing. (I personally don't know if working at a big or small hospital
has bearing with CNO decision, I think what matters more is if you can prove that what you had in nursing school is equivalent to Canadian
standards, hence the sending of the BET (Baccalaureate Equivalency Table) + the number of years of experience working as a staff nurse.
(that's just me). You probably took nursing for only two years because the subjects you had when you went to ComSci was credited right?
So the answer is...you'll be assessed and If they find you lacking they'll ask for your certificate of employment and make you do the BET
(I read with some posts that they no longer give BETs is that true?) But you'll probably be able to sit the CRNE if you compare your credentials
with mine. They made me eligible to challenge the test...whew.

2. What do you mean bearing with RN? like will it affect it? Probably not, you can be registered as an RPN and RN at the same time if you pass
both exams. (source = CNO front desk, hehe tinanong ko din to sa kanila nung nagpunta ako dun.)

3. Ideally, our RN education is equivalent to their RPN diploma.(why? ewan ko ba dapat RN eh equal to RN di ba? lacking daw curriculum natin)
So, they should make one take the test even without experience.

Hope this helps, antayin natin yung mga mas matindi and detalyado sumagot. paging CANIMMIGRANT...hehe busy pa ata magsettle si Ma'am.

1. Is your diploma after graduation said: BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING? If so.. Yes! You are a holder of BScN and have a higher chance of getting the equivalency to the CNO. The only thing, why Filipino RNs are not being equivalent to a current baccalaureate degree in Ontario, is that we lack 2yrs in our secondary level (high school), which dont totally relate into nursing and I don't know the reason behind their reason.

On my CNO assessment, I completed the Baccalaureate Equivalency table (BET) in order for me to meet the equivalency. But to make assured that you'll have your equivalency or to get your eligibility to take the national examinatio, you must have a minimum of 2yrs of another education like Master in Nursing, or any courses (even though its not related to nursing) because the thing that they are pointing out is the 2yrs lack of secondary education.

AN UPDATE: as of march2011, all applicant will not receive a BET to complete, in this cases additional education or working experience as an RN really really count BIG.

Base on my views, YES! you might meet the equivalency to a current BScN in Ontario. :)

2. Yes! sure na sure na magkakaroon ka ng eligibility as an RPN and you can sit the exam. kasi ang RN sa Pinas, is equivalent nga as RPN lang dito, unless kung ipaglalaban mong RN ka lang plus you are giving additional information to them.

3. wala ka experience sa kahit ano man.. you can sit RPN exam and work as an RPN, provided you meet the 7 requirements in becoming a Nurse in ontario.

Capslock ko para mas malinaw: NURSE IN ONTARIO PERTAINS TO TWO CATEGORY (RN AND RPN). WE HAVE 7 REQUIREMENTS IF YOU ARE AN INTERNATIONALLY EDUCATED NURSE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO REGISTER, AND CRNE(RN) OR CRPNE(RPN) IS JUST ONE OF THEM. FOR MORE INFORMATION, VISIT cno.org :)

i'm searching for work na somewhat related in our nursing profession..yun health care aide or personal support worker sana, pero puro home based yun nakikita ko,gusto ko sana yun hospital based or yun mga nursing homes...kaya lang wala me makita here in waterloo... ::) :-[ :'(

paulferrer and PiRN, wow thanks for those wonderful replies! i wish u guys a great time in canada ;D

The QUESTION is?? Naghihire kaya sila ng Internationally Educated nurses? Kasi I have a friend, naging RN sya last Feb2011, hanggang ngayon sa Agency lang sya, nagwowork... kasi ang hanap ng mga hospital dito mga my Canadian education.. kaya ayun, kahit ayaw ko, nagbridging parin ako... lol pero hindi naman 2yrs, 6months lang...

ay ganon, first time i heard that type of case after being licensed here in ontario eh di pa rin sya mahire as RN? that's ridiculous...kasi when i walked in sa mga hospitals nearby, they're just requiring me to pass the CRNE & be registered under CNO...or maybe they're considering my work experiences outside canada? :P :P :P
