Hi, ito po yung reply ng CPAWSB sa akin nung nag tanong ako tungkol sa requirements for clarification, sana makatulong sayo.

For the documentation required , here is some information that will help you to gather the correct documents from the accounting bodies:

  • The transcript required created by the Professional Regulation Commission with the results of the board exams ratings.
  • The letter of good standing is to come from PICPA and indicate the date you became a member and that you are an active member in good standing.
  • Your resume is to be emailed to cpaapplication@cpawsb.ca and should indicate the month and year you started each employment, the positions held and the list of accounting/other related duties and skills developed within that specific employment period.

kung may kakilala ka po na CPA din na taga sa inyo lang doon kana lang mag-ask ng favor na kung pwede mag request ka ng Letter of Good Standing in your behalf and bigyan mo lang sya ng authorization letter and from PICPA ipa send mo directly to CPAWSB.

Hello Everyone

To those who have acquired a CPA designation in Canada, do you remember how much time it took:
• for your school’s recruitment counselor to reply to your initial inquiry
• for PRC/PICPA to send the documents needed from them
• for your school to complete assessing your application
• for the CPA office of your province to process your membership
• for you to acquire CPA designation

We are now starting to prepare for credentials recognition and would like to know how much time this entire process will take for Pinoy CPAs.

Your feedback will be much appreciated!

Hello Everyone

To those who have acquired a CPA designation in Canada, do you remember how much time it took:
• for your school’s recruitment counselor to reply to your initial inquiry
-Not sure what you meant by this. Can you explain further? Are you applying for a student visa?

• for PRC/PICPA to send the documents needed from them
-This would depend if you still have valid prc id. Otherwise you would need to renew - as it is needed for you to get your transcript assessed by the CPA body. You need to get the document shipped to your assessing body too.

• for your school to complete assessing your application
-Again, by school, do you mean the CPA school that would conduct the CPA Modules? I'm in Vancouver and it is part of the CPAWSB so they assessed my documents. It should only take less than a month. I think approx. 3 weeks.

• for the CPA office of your province to process your membership
You pay the payment for membership as a student. This is just formality - so it would only take days.

• for you to acquire CPA designation
-Depends on how fast you are in completing and passing your exams. But you also need to consider when the CFE is offered - which is twice in a year. Usually, people who are working takes 2 years. You can do fast track which is faster and means taking two modules at the same time. But you still have to meet the experience requirement which is 30 months of progressive employment.

We are now starting to prepare for credentials recognition and would like to know how much time this entire process will take for Pinoy CPAs.
-You need to provide more background on your case. Are you in the Philippines? How long have you been working? What school are you talking about? etc.

Your feedback will be much appreciated!

Hi, @spensierato

1&3) We have our PR visa. - by school we meant the Canadian business school that provides the modules and assists internationally-trained CPA in getting CPA-track units :)

To update, and for others’ reference: Atlantic School of Business for NS/NB/PEI applicants) says it’ll take 6-8 weeks upon receipt of a complete application (docs, fees, etc) to process assessment of Internationally-Trained CPA candidates.

They also replied within the day of our inquiry.

2. PICPA/PRC - We have an up to date profile with both, sent our request via email (as recommended), and just waiting for bank to open and pay for the request. :)

To others interested, send your Request for Letter of Good Standing from PICPA to membership@picpa.com.ph (I can share a template separately)

3. Membership with CPA-governing body - Okay. Thanks!

4. Acquiring CPA designation - Thank you for sharing. By 30 months’ work of experience this then refers to Candian work experience?

Hi

Straightforward naman po kahit papaano ang process sa pagapply sa PR sa Caanda. Indeed, doable ang DIY.

You might want to start reading about Express Entry here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/works.html

And the questions that can lead you to the right direction will be here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/come-canada-tool-immigration-express-entry.html

May tool pong gamit ang IRCC, tinatawag na Comprehensive Ranking System or CRS. Your score there will tell you how you’ll rank versus other people applying for PR. Currently the cutoff for invites to apply for PR hovers at 460. If you score above this, more likely you’ll get an “Invitation to Apply” or ITA. And from there proceed with submitting your complete PR application package.

If you score below this, you might want to consider applying or making yourself available for Provincial Nomination. The benefit to being nominated is getting +600 points. Sure yun ITA once nominated and if IRCC verifies all your info, mabilis-bilis ang PPR/approval ng application, nasa 2-4mos to approval I think ang trend.

Nova Scotia particularly invited 300 CPA/accountants to apply to their PNP program last Jan. 2019. Isa dun Pinoy na naapprove for PR naman in roughly 60 days.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
