I am new here. I would just like to know, I was sent a file number already from the Canadian government. How can I use it? What is the next step for my application of immigration to Canada?

You can use the file number to log onto ECAS to check the status of your application. When using the file number you use the information of the applicant and if you use the UCI number to log into ECAS you use the sponsors information.
