Obviously there would be cases where it would take a long time, there could be many reasons, something in their applications required more processing, their background checks took longer, some step was delayed, lots of reasons.
Doesn't mean that it would take such a long time for all applications.

Yes; they asked for additional documents, by the time I got the documents ready my medical expired and they asked for re-assessment...

When did you receive the request for medical re-assessment? CIC requested my husband and daughter to do medical re-assessment last month.

I also got my ready to visa mail last night. But a problem, they asked me to send them my passport within 30 days that is 26 july and I'll be in europe from 10th to 26th july. What do you guys recommend? If I mail them should that be enough?

Hey man, congratulations. In your "ready for visa" email, do they require photos and Bio Data form?
In the email for me, they said:
We require a VALID passport and 2 Immigration size photos with the specifications listed on the following link: (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3998E_tempA.pdf). Photos are required for you and for each accompanying family member. Please fill the Bio Data form included at the end of this letter.

How are going to fill the form and send it? It is not an attachment in the email.

It's not an attachment but it is provided at the end of the mail. I would say print the entire mail and tear of the bio data portion and fill it and send it.
