I was finally able to call IRCC. No status updates, security still not started. They told me that there is no plan or timeline for processing FSW applications and that they are prioritizing inland applicants.
I think they are going to screw us over for the rest of the year. Continue with only inland applicants.

Which is kind of OK. I am not even asking them to process backlog in a first come, first served basis (that would be clearly insane [ironic mode off]), but at least they should have a plan! At least a vague idea of when they will start processing us!

Not sure this is the right place to ask this, but does anyone know what would happen if I applied for the Green Card (in US) while waiting for the Canadian permanent residency?

Thanks

Did you get your PERM done? or are you starting from beginning? US green card takes years. It takes 1 year to get to I-140

My wife is American, so I should be able to get it relatively quick (I think about 1-1.5 years). It would be an adjustment of status from H-1B.
I will tag legalfalcon later, I know he has tons of post to check and I do not want to bother him if anyone else has an answer, lol!

You can do that. My fiancé and I are doing the same thing. Neither US or Canada care about having the permanent residency of the other country. It does not negatively affect either applications.

Although you may have some timeline issues. Since if you are in Canada before you have your US travel documents, you'll need to apply for immigration visa to come back to the US. So, make sure your application timelines match up.

Thank you for your answer. In principle, however, you should not be permanent resident of two countries at the same time, right? Also, I would need to give up either US or Canadian PR, eventually.

You can be. Its just like, once you are approved for Canada, you have to give away the other one. You can apply for Canada PR and use your US Green Card until the former is approved.
