Hi everyone....

1. To those you (principal applicants) who are not from English speaking countries: did you translate your passport's photo page...?! I guess, no right? My wife's passport is written in Indonesian, but it's got English captions as well. For example:

Nama / Name: bla bla bla
Kode Negara / Country Code: bla bla bla
Tempat Lahir / Place of Birth: bla bla bla

Overkill to translate using a sworn translator, I suppose?! (We didn't do it in January)

2. In January, we did provide a certified copy (of the photo page) though. But was that even necessary...? How do you guys do it?

3. In January, we got a notary public to print a certification on my wife's police certificate, certifying that indeed it was original. Do you guys do it too, or may be it's not that necessary because we're sending an original police certificate?

(and of course we're going to send its sworn translation ;))

1. No, because it says it in english too :)

2. I didn't get it certified.. wasn't even thinking about it :D I didn't read anywhere it should be certified?!

3. No, I didn't.. because it is the original coming from the police. I didn't see the need for that. You didn't get it in english straight? In Finland I had an option to choose it in finnish or in english..

In fact it's bilingual! :) The captions are like in a passport. For example "Nama / Name: bla bla bla"

So what do you think then? Certified or no? ^^

Passports are fine. They have the english therefore it is readable and already translated by an official party, the indoneaian gov.

Check the country specific requirements in the indonesian handbook but I'm sure just original police certs are fine!

Hi fandv

You don't need to translate the passport neither certify it. just make sure you clearly photocopy the pages that depict your photo and the info pertaining to Issue & Expiry dates and PP serial number. So just send them 2 pages. That is all

I agree. If it doesn't specifically say you need to certify the police cert, then don't do it. It's already government issued paper. And if all the text is there in english, then no need to translate. :)

I have received 2 emails from CIC just now

One was about sending me back a refund of 60 dollars...and there is no explanation as to why they are sending it back.

And the other was about....I copied and pasted, someone tell me what this is about!!!

"This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on
behalf of ___ and family (if applicable).

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent
Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.
Should you need to submit additional information or make any further enquiries regarding the
Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s), you may contact the visa office by e-mail,
fax, or in writing as follows: "

And it has given me the Nairobi visa office.

It also said:

"This visa office was selected based on your relative’s home address and the requirements of the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act."

I'm going a bit mental right now, can someone explain what this is about..??

I will be calling them tomorrow morning at 8AM sharp!!

To me it seems like you got your SA and your visa office is Nairobi.. I'm not sure why they would change the visa office, if yours should go to Cairo.. strange.

So congrats for getting the SA!! :)

are you joking godisfin?????????????

is this the SA everyone was talking about?? not even a congratulations from CIC?? Sheesh...

I am going nuts here, I was not expecting the visa office to be changed form Cairo to Nairobi.

Not to mention the fact that the expected waiting period is now from 15 months to a good 32 months.
