Good morning :)

New Delhi always requests the passport very early in the process... unlike other VOs that request near the end....
Hang in there

Messenger... glad to hear all is well with the baby :)

Oh ok then, lol ;D

And do they give it back shortly thereafter?! Because if not, then the principal applicant wouldn't be able to travel anywhere during the process...?!

Thanks Messenger!
My wife (principal applicant) has received an email requesting for the passport to be sent to NewDelhi VO.
Info for everyone: She now has a separate UCI number and same application number (as in SA).

It is also stated as follows:
Please note that a request for your passport(s) at this time is not a guarantee of visa
issuance. Passports are requested so that we can hold them on your file and issue your
visas as soon as possible after all requirements have been met.

Hopefully the requirements are met and I didn't do major mistakes!

I see.. Yeah hopefully. Goodluck namachi!!

Wooot.... 1,5 month and PPR already? It must be the fastest PPR on earth, ever! ;D

Congrats!!!!!!!! :)

Thanks fandv and Polgas!
Like cdnmom has mentioned, NewDelhi asks for the passport before even starting to process the application.
Hopefully everything goes fine from here!
Good luck to everyone!

I think not... :(
It is held until COPR is issued

Looking at the spreardsheets and stats, it looks like they are taking 4-6 months to grant a visa and send back the PP after PPR date (for NewDelhi).
Looking at one of the applicant (New Delhi) applied in end of Nov 2012, the applicant has already received the PP back with the visa.
And some applicants who applied in October are stil waiting without any status update.
Don't know how the queue system really works and processed. But it's certain that we all need good luck!

Happy to hear about this and wishing your wife a very short wait till she gets her COPR.
New Delhi is requesting the Passport so early. And what happens if the owner wants to travel in between!

Thanks for your kind words, Messenger! Good luck to you too in your process.
I think the option is not there for the applicant to travel in between.
As of now, my wife has no plans to travel anywhere apart from coming here to Toronto ;D
And I have no plans to apply for a visitor visa for her as I don't want to complicate the process.
So I guess its ok in my case to wait for next 4-6 months.

Can I ask (what I usually ask almost ever time)
What time did you guys received the request. Not that it matters because this was done through your VO
I cant see why I do not have anything from CIC-M yet! I am left alone in the spreadsheet! My luck I guess. First my package goes missing from Canada post for 18 days and now this! It looks like a promising career for my apps! :(
