Hi

My parents entered in canada before PR expiry and they will will be short by 2-3 months to complete 2 years at the time of expiry of PR. For sure we will apply only when they complete their 2 years put of last 5 years...
His Pr card is expiring in January. however, the 5 year period from the landing papr expires in november..
now he need to go back briefly for about 1 or 2 weeks to get some things done there and will come back ..but we are afraid he might be held at airport even though his PR will be valid that time..Can he be told that his PR will be expiring and by that time he will not have completed 2 years ??
other thing is that he can wait and apply for PR immediaely after completion of 2 years and go back to country..his PR can come later...i heard one can attach air tickets to get faster response on PR and they can send PR card..
Another thing, for PR renewal proof, he just has entry and exit stamps on passport...what else he needs to send for residecy proofs?

He could be reported on entry when he returns if he doesn't meet the RO but less risk because it was a short trip and he can prove that to immigration by keeping his ticket and boarding card from his leaving Canada and show it when he comes back.

He could wait until he has 2 years but if there is no guarantee that they will give him expedited processing of his PR card if he only just has 2 years. If he leaves with his expired card after 2 years, he should be able to get a travel document in order to return.

No proof of residency is asked for for the PR card renewal but he should checkmark that they can get his file from CBSA and he may also check to find out if he can get an entry / exit record from the countries he has visited the most because that will also back up his dates. The CBSA records may not be complete. You could actually order them now to see how complete or incomplete they are.

thanks Leon as always..but like i said he will go now and come back after a week or two..his PR card id expiring in coming Jan and 5 years completing in November...when he comes back his PR will still be valid though but we dont wnat to take risk..
i heard from my friends and the site that if you want to get PR early attach your flight tickets when u travel within 15 days. In this way they process quite fast and even return renewed PR card within 2 weeks.
What CBSA record can we order? How to order them...but anyways if my parents have completed 2 years is there by any chance they can be denied the renewal...for sure they have stamps to show that..but not any other proofs except some short term jobs he did, his phone record and his bank..but those are not consistent for to give whole 2 years stay..but for sure 2 years will be completed..

Immigration can always decide not to believe that he spent two years and delay the application and ask for more proof. He will not be 100% safe to travel until he has his new PR card in his hand but if he must, you can try the urgent processing. If he doesn't get it but still has to leave, he can apply for a travel document to return. Should his travel document be denied, worst case, your mother can sponsor him again.

You can order the CBSA records here: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/agency-agence/reports-rapports/pia-efvp/atip-aiprp/req-dem-priv-eng.html

Can it give a tip if we order from CBSA the ATIP notes as the request is through email or written...i know for immigration and citizehip canada ATIP process is online and its an automated process and fetch the result from database..CBSA ATIP seems to be risky...

so you think if he leaves now and comes back before his pr expiry, he wont be stopped..

and in worst case if he loses, i guess it will take quite long for my mohter to sponsor him again..

Because of privacy law, immigration will not know that you applied for his CBSA records. You see when you apply for a PR card renewal, you must check the box to allow immigration to get info from CBSA. Otherwise, immigration is not allowed to go into that as they want. Information flows from CBSA to immigration only if they report him on entry.
