My parents are submitting their visitor visa to visit me in Canada. In the family information form its asking for theri brothers and sisters and their date of birth.

It may sound silly , but my parents are not aware of the legal names of their brothers and sisters as they all used to be called iwth pet names back in the days.. They will not even know the date of birth at all.

Is that going to be an issue ? can they leave that section blank ?

Also, my parents got married in 1977 and they do not have their marriage certificate.. can they attach a letter explaining that or is it mandatory ?

If the date of births are not known then it should not be left blank.... put an * (asterisk) instead

As for your parents Marriage Certificate.... is it in the document checklist for your country? If no, then a copy of your passport/birth certificate that shows they are your parents will suffice
