I'm in the process of sponsoring my wife from the Philippines. I am the sponsor (husband), wife is It seems to me the processing has stalled and was wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing and what to expect next. This is our timeline:

CIC Mississauga Received application - Aug 3/17
CIC Mississauga emailed Sponsor to confirm completed application - Sept 9/17
CIC Mississauga emailed spouse to link account on myCIC - Sept 10/17
Spouse links application on newly created account on myCIC - Sept 10/17
CIC Mississauga emailed spouse requesting NBI Clearance and IMM5669 - Sept 10/17
Spouse uploaded IMM5669 and NBI Clearance to myCIC - Sept 11/17
CIC Mississauga emailed spouse medical examination request - Sept 14/17
CIC Mississauga emailed sponsor approval to sponsor - Sept 15/17
CIC Mississauga emailed sponsor confirming file transfer to MANILA - Sept 21/17
CIC MANILA confirmed file transfer and processing of spouse application - Sept 28/17
Spouse gets medical exam done - Oct 2/17
CIC MANILA confirms "medical results received" - Oct 3/17
CIC MANILA confirms spouse "passed the medical exam" - Oct 8/17
CIC MANILA sends a request letter for "Advisory on Marriages" from Philippine Statistics Authority - Oct 30/17
Spouse uploads requested Advisory on Marriages document CRS Form No. 5 to myCIC account - Nov 7/17

As of the date of my thread December 15/17, we have not heard anything further from the Canadian embassy in Manila(Makati). I've also emailed the embassy if they received all documents from spouse and they confirmed all documents needed to continue processing.

I was wondering if anyone out there could advise how long the wait will be and what will be the next thing for us to expect from the Canadian Embassy in Makati?

No one can tell you how long the wait is exactly for your situation but if you have a straightforward application with no red flags, the decision for your case will be on or before august 3, 2018 as IRCC’s target processing is 12 months. Some people who are being processed in Manila whose applications were received in January 2017 - July 2017 are still waiting. Your processing has not stalled, the wait is part of the process unfortunately.

Thank you so much for your reply. I haveanother friendwho also applied for sponsorship as well in March 2017, and they got a passport request with their counterfoil in it. Funny thing is CIC never asked them for an advisory of marriages document from PSA. The total amount of time they took for processing up to the approval was only 5 months.

Yeah every application is different so you really shouldn’t compare yourself to others, you’ll drive yourself crazy. Your application is still well within the processing time of 12 months so you just need to be patient.

Mine was approved in 4 months but it should not be point of comparison. As long as you are within the 12 months then everything is in order.

Thank you for all the feedback to my thread. Although I was wondering if anyone who went through the process already what is potentially next and whether CIC actually will send an email to you when they start the background/criminal records check? The internal account states they would send a message once the background/criminal records check starts.
