Extension to Work Permit

Hi

We are in the middle of trying to extend our stay here in Canada but are unsure as to what we have to do! WE are here under the Skilled Category Sponsored work permit (Mason) & have being told that we need to apply for a new LMO to extend the work permit. However we have being told friends of ours are just applying for an extension of their permits. They just need a offer letter of work from their employers!

Is this correct? If so how do we do it?

Your employer will have to apply for your LMO. He also must show proof of efforts to recruit Canadian citizens and permanent residents by advertising for the position/s on the Canadian National job bank and another website or major daily for 14 days, before he could file for the LMO. Once you have the LMO you can then file for your work permit.
