Hi,

My family and I received our permanent residency and moved to Canada this year. Before coming over our youngest daughter was born in Israel. When we came over we started sponsorship procedure, but while waiting completion her visitor visa is about to expire. I have tried to apply for an extension online at CIC site ( ..apply_online.asp ) but I'm overwhelmed by information...
For starters, I have applied for "visitor visa". And then I started the eligibility Questionnaire. Next is where it begins to be difficult. In the "what would you like to do in Canada “should I choose "visit" or "move here"? in the "how long are you planning to stay in Canada" should I choose "temporarily" or "permanently"? in the "date of birth" should I fill my details or my daughter's?

If I'm choosing "move here" and "permanently" I'm later asked questions as to my income and my occupation which seems to be inadequate and more related to application for permanent residency. If I'm choosing "visit" it does not seem related to the sponsorship....

Please help.
Kind regards,
Yariv

Since she was born before you came to Canada (I assume before you landed as PR?) was she declared as a non-accompanying dependent in your own PR application?

Until she gets PR she is technically only a visitor and staying temporarily, so that is what you need to apply under for now. You can include her PR application details, and she shouldn't have any trouble getting the visitor extension.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply. She was born in the duration after receiving our PRs, so she was not declared in our PR's application. We have begun the procedure of sponsorship after arrival. I have gone the questioner - could you let me know if you think I have answered accordingly? I'm referring only to questions I'm not sure my choice was accurate:

What would you like to do in Canada?
Visit

How long are you planning to stay in Canada?
Temporarily - more than 6 months

Do you have a family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and is 18 years or older?
Yes

Have you lived in Canada as a permanent resident or landed immigrant?
No

What is your current immigration status in Canada?
Visitor

How are you related to your family member?
Child/grandchild

Are you accompanying a family member who has status in Canada?
Yes

Are you giving someone access to your application?
Yes, I will be appointing a representative to apply on my behalf

Did your representative give you a submission letter?
No

Do you want to submit an application for a family member?
No

Especially the last two I'm not certain about....

Many thanks,
Yariv

So just to confirm, you received your COPRs and actually landed in Canada as PRs, then returned to home country during which time she was born, then move to Canada again permanently, correct?

Anyways the visa app seems fine as you have it, but would get some other's opinions who have more experience with requesting visitor status extensions.
