Extending visitor record second time.

Hi all. I entered Canada with my British passport and Canadian ETA. When my initial 6 months period was approaching, I applied for a visitor record, which was issued relatively quickly -- that gave me another 6 months. I haven't left Canada since my initial entry almost a year ago. Can I apply for another (second) extension and how likely will it get approved?

Alternatively, will re-entering Canada from US reset 6-months? Some sources say not.

Yes, you can apply for an extension inland. You'll want to give a good reason why you are asking to stay longer and also provide proof you have the funds to remain longer. No one can tell you the likelihood of approval without knowing more about your situation.

You can also exit Canada to the US and re-enter. However generally this is much riskier and has a lower chance of securing you another six month stay in Canada. Best option is to apply for an extension inland.

Again, yes. You can apply. Again, impossible to comment on the chances of approved without knowing the details of why you are requesting a longer stay.

Not enough info to comment further. What is your spouse's status in Canada? If PR or citizen then why are they not sponsoring your for PR? If study permit or work permit, then why aren't you applying for a spousal open work permit?
