Hi, new to this!

My Situation.
English, 24, currently on my second and last open work visa which expires April 3rd 2015, being sponsored by my Boyfriend.

I'm sending off my PR application next week, I was told by a friend (who applied 2 years ago so obviously forms and what not are outdated a little) to also send off an extension for my current visa with it but it says on the website that extensions should be sent to Vegreville and PR should be sent to mississauga? can I still send my extension to Mississauga as one package?

Also may be obvious but i'm unsure as to which to choose on IMM5710 question 3? It says "choose one or more from the following:
A work permit with the same employer - does this mean that I have to commit to this employer until I get an answer? I work in a coffee shop so do not want to commit as something better paying may come along.
Restoration of your status as a worker - I guess not as my visa has not ended
An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer - I think I should select this one but not sure if it should be the Temp Resident?
Temporary Resident Permit - Unsure if I should select this or not? I take it that this would allow me to continue working?

sorry if these seem obvious, I just got a little stumped and have been looking at forms for too long.
Any help appreciated.

What kind of work permit do you hold? Is it a working holiday visa / IEC by any chance?

anyone know?
I was also wondering if I have to do it at all? a friend applying under a different category was saying that once you receive your acknowledgment that it is being processed that you automatically get "implied status" so I stay as I am, so I don't have to send off applications, is this correct?

OK - so the bad news is that IECs don't benefit from implied status (they are different than other work permits in this regard). This means that even if you've included an OWP with your inland application, you can't continue working past the expiry of your IEC. You will have to stop working as soon as your IEC expires unless you have a new and approved work permit in hand. The OWP won't be approved in time. So you would need an approved LMIA from your employer and an approved close work permit to continue working.

Having said all of the above, don't apply inland - apply outland. Since you're from the UK - there's no benefit to applying inland. If you apply outland you'll probably have PR months before the 13 months is takes to get an open work permit with the inland process. It's honestly a no-brainer.

Thank you,
So I have to stop working once my current visa expires? LMIA is probably out of the question as I work in a coffee shop.

Ok I wish I had realised applying outland was an option even though i'm in canada, Yay more forms!

Thanks for your help!

Correct - you would need an LMIA.

Yes - outland is definitely an option if you are in Canada (many of us have gone this way) - in fact this is what CIC recommends.
