Does anyone have knowledge or experience of this type of situation?

I, a citizen of a northern european country, met a Canadian guy online August 2019. We started as friends and now our relationship has grown into a romance. Since beginning of 2020 we have been video chatting daily for hours. We are both adults, and this isn't our first relationship. We wanted to first see if there was going to be deeper feelings before meeting. But then covid-19 hit and the travelling restrictions shattered our hopes of a meeting. We got hopeful when Canada announced of the possibility to unite extended family members. But is our case totally hopeless since we havent yet spent time physically together? We have had a committed relationship for over a year. We are just filling the"extended family member form". Because there is no right option for us, we are planning to add an extra note/text to explain our situation. My country doesn't have it that bad (number of infected) and he lives in a rural part of western Canada. So, does anyone have any experience? We will try anything to get to meet.

Not sure there is any way around this currenetly based on the current extended family guidelines so you may just have to continue to wait it out and suspect you are not the only couple in the world in the same situation. Sure if it makes you feel you have tried all you can you can try an application who knows given this is just a public forum not the IRCC but wouldnt hold out a lot of hope for success at this time.
