Here's my situation:
I'm currently working with a company-sponsored (LMO) work permit which is set to expire mid September.
I applied for PR under CEC a month ago and haven't yet received AOR or anything else for that matter.
I'm planning to remain in Canada as a visitor after my WP expires in September until I either get my PR, bridging open WP or another sponsor for a LMO.
My question:
Because my company won't have any work for me this summer (likely until my WP expires), I'm thinking of leaving for my home country Germany and work there for the summer.
I'm planning to apply for an extension of stay as a visitor while I'm still here and then leave Canada.
I would then return shortly before my current WP expires and stay as a visitor (assuming my extension of stay will be granted).
As far as I'm informed I don't see any problems with this. But I would be glad to hear opinions from someone with more experience...
Could I face any difficulties at the border coming back in if my WP is set to expire within a week or so? My visitor visa should probably have arrived at that point but it'll be waiting in my mail box and I won't have it with me at the border.
Another thought, coming from Germany I shouldn't need a visitor visa anyway, but I guess I need it to extend my stay after my WP expires. How long do I need to be away before it counts as a new visit?
I just want to make sure it'll work because I will be keeping my apartment with all my belongings in it, so I have to get back in or I'm in trouble...
