Hi friends, I will need your advice.

I am in Canada as a visitor and have a multiple entry visa from the Uk that is valid for a few more years.

My six months stay is about to expire and I will like to extend it. I extended it the last time through application to CIC.

I have heard about people going to the US border to cross, get their passport stamped and return the same day. Is it an easy process? Do I need a US visa to make this happen?

Thanks for your advice.

What is your nationality?

If you come from a country that require visa to enter US, yes you will a US visa to cross the border.

That is a risky move. The CBSA officer will assess the validity of your visit, and may challenge your reasons for taking such a convinient trip that will waive you from going through an "extension" application. If he finds it "too convinient" then he can limit or refuse entry to Canada.

If you are travelling with a passport from a visa requiered contry then yes, you need a visa for the USA (which seems the case as you have a TRV for Canada).
