Express Entry Spouse skilled experience

Hi,

So I have been studying for the last 2 years in a Master's programme in Canada. I have no skilled work experience. My spouse has gained 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada in NOC B.

We can get many more points, with me being the principal applicant for express entry due to my education in Canada. However, I have no skilled work experience.

Is this allowed, or do I have to have 1 year of skilled work experience as well as my partner? We can do it the other way around, with her being the principal applicant, but we will score at 443 instead of 467.

Thanks

For you to be eligible for EE, you need for FSW one year of continuous, skilled work experience or for CEC, one year Canadian skilled work experience. Your spouse is eligible if your spouse has completed ECA and IELTS.

Ok thanks, so it would be best for my spouse to be the principal applicant? I don't need to have skilled work experience that way?

Since you don't have a year of skilled work experience, the only option is for your wife to be the primary applicant at this time. Once you finish your studies and complete a year of skilled work experience, you can set up a profile where you are the primary applicant.

Thanks, so I will still be able to be on her application, just not on my own correct?

That's right. You would be included in your wife's application as a dependent.
