Express Entry on Implied Status

Hello!

I am presently in Canada on implied status. Can I apply for Express Entry based on this status?

Details are as follows: I arrived in Canada in July 2013 for masters' study at U of Toronto. I applied for post graduate work permit (PGWP) in May 2015, which is under process, while my study permit expired in July 2015, resulting in my current implied status.

I also created an Express Entry profile in April 2015 but on Aug 1, I received an update mentioning that my profile is ineligible, without providing any details. I called CIC for more info, but they declined to clarify.

Now I am wondering should I wait for my work permit (which may be approved in September 2015), or can I reapply for Express Entry based on implied status?

Any help will be tremendously useful.

Unless you had work experience back home which would make you eleigible for FSWP, you cannot sign for Express Entry before you have worked at least one year.

I don't understand the benefit you are hoping to get from "implied status". In any case, that "implied status" would keep you as a student until you gwt work permit. Meaning, your work experience then might not be eligible for express entry points.

I have more than 8 years' experience, before I arrived in Canada, so that box is ticked.

I understand that implied status is temporary, till I receive my work permit. Since my express entry profile was deemed ineligible, I thought it might be due to my current implied status.

Should I reapply after I receive my work permit, or can I apply right now?

You can apply now, but that ineligibility thing is still going to be a barrier! I guess you have your Canadian master's degree, so you don't need an evaluation of your education to be eligible. But have you taken IELTS and, if you speak French, the comparable French test? You need those results. You will also need to have 67 points under FSW, as you are not eligible for CEC yet. Look those up on the website, and be sure you have them. You will also, until you are eligible for FSW, have to have at least the minimum amount of money required (also on the CIC website) to qualify.

There is absolutely no problem with implied status. In fact, you can apply for EE from outside Canada, never having had status here at all. So your problem is in another area - and most likely in those I mentioned above. Good luck!
