Hi All,

I came to Canada as a student in 2011. Got graduated in 2013. I worked part time in a Retail Salesman position (Skill Level C) for 2 years (1 year as a student and 1 year after graduation). I started working as a Process Consultant (Skill Level A) last June.

Now, my first question is that can I use the hours of the Retail Sales position for Express Entry in Federal skilled workers criteria. My second question is related to hours- my work schedule is 40 hours a week which comes to 2080 hours a year- the Federal Skill workers program asked for 1560 hours/ 30 hours a week - now that means I can get the required experience on 1560 hours in around 10 months. Is that correct or I need to only consider 30 hours a week (i.e. around 13 months of experience)?

1. No, only skilled occupation (0,A,B) is qualified
2. Both 1-year.and 1560 hours are required (52 weeks of 30 hours or more)

I'll help with your second question. Any week where you worked 30 hours or more is counted as one week of experience. It doesn't matter if you worked 30 hours that week or 60 hours - it's still only counted as 1 week. So no - you can't get the required experience in 10 months. You still need 12 months of full time work.

Hi Suman,

I believe that you cannot use a Skill Level C experience to count towards any work experience.

For your second answer, a minimum of one year is required with 1560 hours or 30 hrs a week being the minimum.

I try to apply for the EE with one year experience abroad and 11 months experience in Canada, and I wasn't eligible, and then I added my part time experience as sales person for a year, and now I am eligible, so I think you can add it to your profile to get more points.

It doesn't count as skilled experience but it gives you points.

Hello dear forumites,

Its a very interesting thread to discuss. I haven't apply for EE yet and hopefully won't if I get through FSWP 2014.
However I would like to know how work experience is calculated. Here is my case:
2004-2007 36 hrs per week NOC 3131
2007-2008(11 month) 20 hrs per week NOC 4012
2008 Aug-up to now 18 hrs per week NOC 4011
2010-up to now 20 hrs per week NOC 4021
So how my work experience calculated? ??? Should I consider only work experience in single occupation or it is sum of all work experience? If yes, is 18 hrs. per week equivalent 1.2 week of 15 hrs per week?
PLEASE HELP
