I contacted the medical centre, they have said that my report was completed and submitted within a few days of the medical exam and they have given me a copy of my e-medical showing the date of submission to IRCC and that all the examinations have been completed. They have said that I should direct all further queries to IRCC. I take that to mean that they have not received any further communication from IRCC.

The question is, why has it taken 2 weeks for the status to change to 'review in progress'- and why hasn't it been passed straight away? What is the reason for the variation in time-scales experienced by different people at the same VO?
No one has an answer to that question of yours, how CIC works. Same VO we see variations in time scales and status which puts doubt in minds of all of us here.
I have seen folks getting PPR without any change to their back ground verification whereas for others the status changes 4-5 times.Worst is till 6 months we cannot reach out to them.
Your case i would say do not worry as time has passed since your medical centre submitted the report so all should be fine. It might be just one of those cases where in CIC is lazy in updating the status.
From your side if you still do not see the status change next 2-3 weeks, may be visit your medical centre once more.

Medical centre said they submitted long time ago.. and everything went well.. they havent received anything from cic..
I donno wats wrong..

When did it change from not needed to review? You can try contacting your medical centre- ask them when they submitted the medical report and whether they have received any intimation for follow-up.

Did you declare any medical conditions, past or present?

Guys, today my status has changed from "A background check is needed - Not started" to "A background check is needed - Not needed at this time'

This line has never been "in progress"

What does it mean? :)

The changes in BG check status are quite random. In most cases they move from Not needed at this time to Not started back to Not needed at the time. Post this even if it moves to In progress there have been many cases in the forum where it has moved back to not needed at this time and then moved again to In progress for a second time. Don't give much thought to it. Just sit back and enjoy the wait. :)

Today is day 22 post-AOR for me: no single update on my profile!!! Sad >:( >:(

So while editing the eAPR form, I came across this when I clicked on the question mark button:

It may be possible that a certain percentage of cases are automatically reviewed for quality assurance- like happens with external examination benchmarking at university. That, or there's something minor with the test results that they want to investigate further. It's not helpful that the medical centre won't release the actual report.

Actual reports even if we get our hands on is not of much use as we still need to get the tests done as per CIC. What I meant by reaching out to medical centre was in case they have received any communication from CIC for further tests as had been the case with me.
I had to undergo further tests with no communication from CIC for nearly a month whereas the medical centre had that information(long back). I got the additional tests done and my status changed to pass a few days after.

Had I not gone to the medical centre, not sure when I would have received communication from CIC side for further tests. It would have happened, it would have taken time but that wait would have been agonizing.

And yes there is every possibility of CIC reviewing for QA.
