AFAIK, you can't apply for BOWP with the automated AOR. I've been told by CIC to wait for a completeness check.
Here's what I got from them:

In Express Entry, two letters are sent to applicants. Only the second letter can be used to support an application for a bridging open work permit.

· A first letter is automatically issued to the applicant when they submit their application. This letter indicates, “Your application is being checked to determine whether it meets the requirements of a complete application pursuant to Section 10 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.” This letter cannot be used to support a bridging open work permit, as it does not reflect that the applicant has received a ‘positive eligibility assessment’ as required for the bridging open work permit.

· A second letter is issued to the applicant once their application has passed a completeness check. This letter indicates, “CIC has reviewed your application and determined that it meets the requirements of a complete application as described in sections 10 and 12.01 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.” This is the official Acknowledgement of Receipt letter and may be used to support a bridging open work permit if all other requirements are met.

I've been following the various BOWP threads on this forum closely (the topic is very relevant for me), as well as this one, and I don't remember seeing a single person receiving that second letter confirming your application is complete. This includes people who've already received their PPR. To me this feels like another case of CIC being entirely unprepared and/or sending confusing information to applicants -- the BOWP webpage hasn't been updated since EE began, and CIC call centre agents speak without real authority. Like others here, I've applied using the so-called "automattic" AOR in my BOWP. Will it work? Who knows! I have another three weeks or so before my application will be processed according to current wait times. I suspect many others will soon learn which it is -- I hope common sense wins the day and we don't get refused because of their not stating clearly what we should've done!

Yes I did.
EE AOR is not for BOWP. Because a lawyer came to my work place, and I could have time to talk to her.
She thoroughly read the EE-AOR and confirmed that the EE-AOR is not same as old AOR.
The contents in the letter is different than former ones.

This is only my guess. VO has processed my friend's EE application as "PRIORITY" to make her "PASS" in order to give her BOWP. Only my guess.

Also do not worry about applying BOWP with EE AOR. I will apply BOWP with EE AOR next months.

So after asking a visa specialist, she advised that if your permit is about to expire, as long as you have an AOR you should be able to apply for an open permit online through your myCIC.

I had to do that determine your eligibility which was a bit confusing. Once done you should have the option to apply for an open permit (which is actually the bridge permit but they don't call it that). Then you are required to upload digital photo, IMM5710, Passport or travel document, Proof of Medical Exam. (Thats as far as I have got so far)

The Itinerary, Travel I believe is not required if you have been staying in Canada but be sure to add a letter to explain that you have been living in Canada for whatever length of time. You current status will go into implied status once your permit is up until a decision is made. You cannot leave the country at this point or your application maybe cancelled.

The above might not be 100% but that what I was told. Hope it helps
Yeah, thats what i understood for CEC, but didn't think you could for FSW... there seems to be more on this on the forum now which seems to conclude that you shouldn't really be able to use EE AOR for any stream... but worth a try!!

thanks for the update

Hi bro,
yes, your wife and child should apply for medical in India. PCC for all applicants too. Tell her to use your EE number which starts with E××××××××. You should also have a birth certificate for your child. It's mandatory.

Scan all the original documents and make a pdf file for each applicant. DO NOT forget to check completeness.

Good Luck
