On a scale of 1-10 how hard does everyone consider this process?

Who has everyone used for ITN numbers?

@KBH how long did it take for RIV to send you the inspection letter?

Question about the recall clearance letter. RIV states on their website that if the OEM website shows up-to-date recall information specific to your VIN, and you can provide them with documentation to show that any listed recalls have been addressed (invoice from dealership), that can suffice as clearance. Or at least that is the way I'm interpreting it, please correct me if I'm wrong.

So can we refer them to Toyota's recall page on their website and provide them with our VIN and include a photocopy of our invoice showing the specific recall work done on vehicle? Print off a screenshot showing the same? Seems a lot simpler and quicker than requesting on official letter from Toyota USA.

Having difficulty quoting RIV directly in this post (formatting), but see "Acceptable forms of recall clearance documentation": http://www.riv.ca/RecallClearance.aspx

I have a Toyota as well and actually tried to get a letter from Toyota before I realized that I could just provide a screenshot of the Toyota recall website. Toyota was impossible to deal with and did not provide me with what I needed. I ended up submitting a screenshot from the Toyota recall site and that worked fine.

You do not need to submit any proof of recalls that have already been addressed (dealer invoices etc) unless those recalls are still showing up as not fixed when you search your VIN on the Toyota site. In my case, my VIN showed no recalls.

Great, thanks! Our recall was just addressed yesterday so it still hasn't updated online - not sure how long that will take but we do have the receipt.

Did your Toyota require any modifications? I know already that my wife's will need DRL and I've contacted Toyota Canada to ask about this. They said none of their dealerships will do the aftermarket DRL. Do you think it's worth contacting specific local dealerships to see how strictly they enforce this policy?

I have a 2013 Corolla and it didn't require any modifications. Are you 100% sure that your wife's will need the DRL? I thought mine would too but then I realized that they are still on even when I switch my headlight stalk to "off". I naively assumed they turned off when I switched to off... but I'm not a car person. LOL
