My husband and I plan to sponsor my mother next year. In preparation, I was going through the forms.

Between the 2 of us, we definitely meet the Minimum Necessary Income every year. But in 2017 and 2018, my husband's income dropped from 90k to 20-40k primarily because he has been off on disability and his annual $53k/yr disability income is non-taxable.

Should I add a note to the section on employment explaining why the stated gross income of $85k does not match his reported income at CRA?

I was thinking of adding "reported income lower due to non-taxable disability inincomof $53,000 in 2017 & 2018. Plan to return to work in 2019". Of course, with disability, nothing is certain although we are hopeful.

Or just leave it unexplained as we do meet the (~$67/68k) Minimum Necessary Income for 3+ years for 5 people?

I am also thinking of not giving them access to my tax records and just attaching my Notice of Assessments as there is less detail there of exactly how we got our income (we padded our numbers with investment income, capital gains, and selling some RRSPs)

Thanks - seems to be much more straightforward than the SuperVisa application where we added all kinds of explanations.
