Hello! I am an international student here on a study permit (expiring soon) and a post-graduate work permit expiring next year. My husband's IEC is expiring this July. And we haven't heard anything about his PR application yet either. Of course, we want to ensure we stay in the country together. He applied for an SOWP, which allows him to work until July as well unless his application receives a decision. We really need help. I am starting to panic. Can we do anything to ensure that he stays in Canada with me?

When and how did he apply for PR?

Did he get his IEC first or did you get your study permit first?

I assume you are working?

His lawyer put him under the TR to PR program.

He (my husband) has had two IEC's.
July 14 2019 - First IEC
July 10 2021 - Second IEC

I got my Study permit in 2019 Aug.

I am focusing on my studies atm. When I graduate this April, I will work full-time using my PGWP.

Hello! Yes, he also has an OWP application that's been submitted on Jan 14, 2023. We haven't gotten any updates on that yet, but the IRCC did send a letter saying they received it.

His lawyer has been saying that we have nothing to worry about, but it's been about 6 months now since they said that they got his AOR.
On Jan 26th, they got him to sign an IMM5669 form. Schedule A.

On June 10, 2022, he was assigned a file number.

He has maintained status, formerly known as implied status. If you still feel like worrying, apply for a bridging open work permit for him.

yes we have applied for an SOWP already. It’s basically like a bridging open work permit from what I understood, but the difference was, when we were applying for BOWP, it asked us a question about if he was married to someone with a work/study permit, and we clicked “yes” so it led us to SOWP. I assume that’s the same thing?

We’re worried because it’s been more than a year now and he still hasn’t got his PR approval. While his friend who worked at Walmart applied for PR much later than him but got his after 3 months?? Why is that?

Very strange that they're neglecting him like that. He has maintained status though. I would call in and see.

Different immigration programs have different processing times. Your husband applied through TR to PR which has much longer processing times than EE.
