Hi,
I am a Filipino TFW, my documents(work permit and SIN)expired on april 9 2011 and currently unemployed. My application for an open work permit(together with the application for permanent residence)is on going, accepted by the CIC office last May 6,2010 and started processing last july 16, 2010. So confused about my current situation, do i still need to apply for "Restoration of Temporary Status or just wait for the result of my application? I really appreciate a quick reply enable to prepare documents needed before its too late. Thankyou.

Hi rikrik!
You are on implied status...thats what the CIC call it. Its your option to look for another job and get a new work permit or you can wait "in vain" just like all the others :( . No need to apply for restoration. Good luck to all of us!

thanks for that immediate reply, i appreciate it so much, i have one more question that's disturbing me a lot, if in case i find a new employer and apply for a new work permit, will i be affected with the new law released last april 1, 2011, even if my paper is in process already? because if so, i'd rather wait for the result of my application. thanks once again.

u hv the same situation like me....im not goin to extend my stay, il jus be on implied status....i call hrsdc n u can continue to pay ur taxes if ure with the same employer

hi rikrik,
no you wont be affected by the new law. you can work with another employer and apply for a new work permit while waiting....but if you're working with the same employer its ok....the thing with implied status is you don't have a health insurance coverage unless you'll get private coverage for the meantime while waiting.....Cheers!

What's the "new" law about? please post a link. Thanks.
