Hi,

You need to disclose a bit more info.. like which course and Canadian college you applied to? Did you apply under SPP? your IELTS score? B.A percentage? Any gaps? Any work ex.? Till then, it's very difficult to suggest you anything...on the basis of this incomplete and vague information you have mentioned above.

i applied for early childhood education in humber college toronto
10th 72%
12th 60%
b.a. 49%
ielts 6.5 overall
no gap
i know b.a %age is low bur this is not only reason behind refusal as the reason was prog not reasonable ...................

Hi,

Marks of the last major degree (in your case B.A - & overall academic marks/record is the biggest factor), relevant course selection, good IELTS score, proper finance and overall consistent profile is what V.Os are usually looking for.

Your low percentage in B.A seems to be the MAJOR problem. And, in many courses 50% is the minimum requirement for admission. Some get visa with 55% and some don't even with 65%. So nothing is sure. In your case..you have taken a sharp dive in performance.. from distinction in 10th & 1st class in 12th to a pass class in B.A... this shows (in the eyes of V.O) degradation & and no consistency in performance. If this was other way round (second class in 10th /12th... and distinction in B.A, then it wd have clearly shown progress). Although, this is just an assumption... and unless you see the CIAPS notes..you will never know the exact reason.

There have been cases, for example of a forum member with 6+ years work ex.., good profile, good IELTS score, all finances in place, proper management course selection.... BUT his B.com percentage was below 50%.. didn't get visa even in 2 attempts. CIAPS notes mentioned, that since so low percentage in graduation... the applicant will not be able to match the standards of the course in Canada, weak academic/ similar reason etc.

So, Yes... B.A low marks is most probably the main reason and also the course... is not relevant. If you had teaching work ex., then it could have been relevant to your profile.

Anyway, select a general course- such as a 2 years GBM (Global Business Management) at Humber/Centennial or some other PG level business course, try to improve the IELTS score and write a very good SOP. This way... your chances will be much higher, once you go there..change over to any course of your choice (provided you get admission).

Best of Luck.

Hi,

It's enough. But, since you have such low score in your graduation, it will be better if you improve your IELTS score, which in turn will help improve your overall application package, as English language ability is one of the important factors considered for a student to successfully complete his/her studies in Canada.

Is ielts a requirement for the visa or you add it to strengthen your application?
Anyhow, if you're admitted to a University it's obvious that you did English test .
