hi maplelove,
i already tried calling posb and asked if it is possible that someone could pick up the bankdraft in my behalf with an authorization letter but they say they will only release it to me.
i dont know about ocbc, ill try to call them tomorrow.
posb suggested that i can ask a friend to purchase a bankdraft/cashiers order but his name will appear in the bankdraft not mine. but i can write my name in it anyway. would that be acceptable to the VO?

You try with OCBC, i did purchase one for somebody also... No name appeared on both cashier's order but to the recepient's name which is High Commission of Canada.
Correct, you will also write your name at the back of the cashier's order. They call it bank draft here for abroad but if payable for local they call it cashier's order, before I was also confused.

hi maplelove,
thanks for the info. I called posb again and they confirmed that the cashier's order applicant name will not appear so I can just ask a friend to purchase one for me.
one question, pinoy ka ba?

good to know you are one.. ;D

my only problem now is y NBI clearance, my location here requires 8 hrs of train travel to the nearest Ph embassy just to get an NBI clearance application form.

I dont understand why they cant just make it available as a downloadable and printable file.

It is very time and money consuming process just to get a form. Then you have to send it to Ph to actually get an NBI clearance which will take weeks again.

hayz.. how i wish there is another way to do this.

Oh that's too troublesome on your part but I don't think there are other means except going to Phil. Embassy and personally apply. We have a new system now of securing NBI, you can't use your old copy until 2011 to renew, all old records are now obsolete. That's what I experienced and I waited almost a month! But I applied in Phil when I took a holiday last month.
I think you have to do it as soon as possible. :)

hi maplelove,

I already submitted a request for the NBI application form to the nearest Phil. embassy and I haven't received them yet. It's been a week now.

By the way, what document did you include as proof of fund? Is there a minimum amount that should be in your bank account?

I hope the whole visa processing will not take much time once I submit my application.

Just my OCBC bank account. I have an online bank statement for the last 3 months, I just printed it. I don't think there is a minimum proof of fund, I think just enough to support our necessities before our salary date. I also send my past 3 months pay slip.
As per my friend who is now a VO in UAE, proof of fund for TFW visa is just for formality, that's why they did not specified the amount unlike when you apply for immigration under FSW category.

thanks maplelove.I'll just do the same. I already have printed an online bank statement.
I also thought that proof of fund is only a formality since my contract shows that my company in canada will provide relocation allowance which i believe is more than enough to help me settle in the first 2 months.
Do you have a family that you will take with you in canada?
Keep us updated here with your process. I hope it wont take long.

Nope I'll be going alone. My hubby is already there, he went ahead last month. We will be working on the same city so he already found a place for us to stay.
I will post any updates here.
All the best for you :)

thanks m.l.

I have a few question for you:

-About the cashier's order, as i understand it, the only thing that will appear as the recepient is "High Commission of Canada" right? no address or other details? then my name of course at the back.

-And where are you planning to exit to Canada, Phils. or SG? I was thinking if I need to do PDOS and things like that if I'll be coming from Phils. So I can plan to exit in SG in case I will need to do all those things.

1) Yes correct, only the recepient's name will appear then you handwrite your name at the back.
I also added my hand phone number just in case some questions may pop up.

2) Definitely I will take exit from here. I don't have plans to exit from Phil.

and yet again..you made my life a bit easier..tnx

-have you ever heard of anyone who had their visa from outside Phil. but exited in Phil.?
did they went thru PDOS and things like that?

-when your hubby went to Canada, did he book for a return flight or just one way?

and pls. dont get tired in answering all my questions just yet.. ;D

No worries :)
I don't know anybody with such case except what my hubby experienced.
My hubby exited here in SG, he had his Canadian work visa already when we took a holiday in Phil., he did not had any problems from the Phil. IO since he had still existing SG work pass.

hi maplelove! its me again. any update in your application?
i have a question about passport submission. did you submit your original passport together with your application?

i'm confused with the SGVO website instruction, we are not going to submit our original passports because we'll be needing it for travel so we will just send a copy instead. question is, are we going to submit copies of only the "used pages" or "every page"?

in the FAQ it says "used pages" but in the submit application>passport submission part it says "every page".

i already made copies of the used pages only, but when i go thru the website again, i noticed that difference.

hope someone can answer based on their experience. thanks!
