I'm wondering if anybody here has had any experience looking for and getting a job in Information Security as a newcomer to Canada. On the one hand, I keep reading how much of a shortage of Information Security professionals there is, both in Canada and in general, and how the IT sector is growing in some parts of Canada, but on the other hand I've read about people spending months without a job upon arrival and how they have to apply for hundreds of jobs just to get an interview since they don't have Canadian experience. I'm still early in the process, but this has me a little concerned as I'm hesitant to go through this whole process just to have to blow away my savings once I move there.
Can anyone share experiences/thoughts on this? If you got a job in InfoSec, how long did it take? Do you have experience, certifications, etc?
