I was student here in canada.. I finished up my studies in Dec 2012 and i started my full time job in Jan2013 on my off-campus work permit. but i got my post-graduation work permit in March2013.
So i am confused am i eligible to count my work experience from Jan2013 when i started my full time job or it will be counted from march2013 when i recieved my post-graduation work permit?

Any experience gained under your off campus work permit will not count. Any eligible and authorized experience under your off campus work permit will count. You'd have to wait till March to accumulate the needed 12 months of eligible experience before applying. Cheers

Also. any experience gained after you formally graduated i.e. when you get your diploma/degree. I have seen people getting rejected as they started adding work experience from the time they cleared their exams,

workdone after graduation on off campus workpermit will count.

Any period of employment during which the applicant was engaged in full-time study will not be included in calculating the period of qualifying work experience (e.g. work experience gained through co-op work permits, off-campus work permits while a full-time student, and on-campus work permits).


offcampus workpermit while full-time student

means if you are graduated,got degree and graduation ceremony done so experience after graduation on off campus will count. You can call CIC customer care and confirm

Thanks. I have letter from my institute saying that I graduated in Dec2012. But i am sure if thats works or they strictly go by the issued date of PGWP ??

Plse submit your transcript and degree. The crediditional showing graduation date is valid. Call cic

I'd advise you to apply after accumulating 12 months on your post grad work permit before applying. You don't want to apply early then waste almost one year before getting rejected. There have been a few people on this forum that have stated they were rejected because they used experience on off campus permit. Better safe than sorry.

I used my offcampus experiance after graduation and my eeligibility say "recommended passed" in gcms notes. I confirmed wth cic and they confirmed with visa officer. Peaple who wre rejected were under 2012 old rules. Op25a say that if u r graduated offcampus wp counts.so if u worked less than 90 days on offcampus after graduation u r okey but if u hve time use ur pgwp wp

My work permit was issued in November 2011.. but my graduation date was October 18, 2011. And I applied on October 17, 2012.
I have received my PR.
U just need to complete one year after your convocation date. In my GCMS note it was written that I was short of experience by one day.

Your experience Counts from the day you graduated if you off campus work permit was valid at that time. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, I CALLED CIC AND THEY TOLD ME THAT 3 MONTHS AFTER YOUR COMPLETION OF COLLEGE WILL BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION BECAUSE YOUR OFF-CAMPUS WORK PERMIT WAS VALID DURING THAT PERIOD OF TIME.
