Was it a paid holiday? If yes, then apply august 1st, otherwise august 15th

Unpaid vacation does not count.

Paid vacation counts within reasonable limits.

Applying on the day one year is over is not a smart idea. Unless you absolutely have no time to wait you should apply on 13 months have a few weeks of buffer.

So you will need 2 reference letters - one from your first employer (the employment agency) (if you want to use those three months) and one from your employer (can cover both the 3 month period of assignment, plus the period of employment....)

One year is one year, here and in China. Why wait 13 months like some suggest?
If you've got one year legally working in Canada you should just be fine.

Then go ahead by all means. There has never ever been a case of someone being rejected because they were missing a week or two.

Make sure to also always arrive at the airport exactly the last possible second, nothing unexpected ever happens. 1 second is still one second. Keep your bank balance on $0.01 positive too. There's no chance of overdraft, ever. Everything is completely predictable. There's no need for margin or padding, ever.

Yeah you can say all that stuff, but this is not a matter of predictability, it's mathematics. Neither changes the fact that 365 worked days are 365 worked days (the 1 year that CEC requires).

Oh no wait... maybe you are right and something unexpected might happen, like the sun rounding the Earth in double time. So 1 year would be 730 days...

What if you took unpaid vacation time during the one year? What if the hours were not matching up to 30 hours a week? What if the VO makes a calculation error in calculating hours work per day? There are so many uncertainties, that its always better to apply a week or two after you 'think' you have become eligible. We can never be sure of what might happen, so always should prepare for the worst. What's better? 2 weeks wait before applying or getting a rejection 8 months after application?

You are assuming all the CIC people can read and count, precisely. A bold assumption, I have to say :p

I were talking about 365 full time worked days, of course with paid vacations. Otherwise I would have said 365 days minus 10 unpaid vacation days = 355 days, which is not 1 year.
Bottom line is, if the overall of worked days on a full time position (on which he was) + paid vacation comes to 365 days, there's no room for error.

Simple math is it? I work 5 days a week, if I'm only counting days worked, that would take me 73 weeks (17 months) to accumulate 365 days worked. CIC only requires a calendar year of full-time work, so adding a month for a cushion (rather than 5) makes more sense to me.
