Hi,

I'm in the middle of an inland application for spousal sponsored Permanent Residency (my wife is Canadian, I'm English). I have held an OWP since March 2016 (our PR application was made in December 2015), and have been in full time employment throughout my entire time in Canada (March 2012 to date).

I'm visiting the UK without my wife next weekend (fly in Friday, back on Monday) and then we'll be going on vacation to Iceland together the week after. Couple of questions that I'm struggling to get answers to:

1) Do I need to complete and have a valid eTA to return to Canada from the UK?
2) If so, do I need separate eTAs for the Iceland / UK trips, or does the UK > Canada re-entry automatically extend (I believe the eTA is valid for 90 days?)

Thanks in advance - seems a simple one but I'm getting conflicting views from different sources to wanted to ask the good folk on here!

1. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp
As you can see, you need eTA.

2. Once approved, an eTA is valid for five years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
And about Iceland trip - since UK is still part of EU you can enter Iceland without any specific documents other than your passport.
