Essay part of IELTS

You have to write 2 essays. One is 150, another is 250 words. Does anyone know how they count words in essay part of IELTS?

dear leave word counting...just write exactly 3 pages for essay and 2 pages for letter (if going for general test)
i did the same and got 7 in writing ...

writing part is some tough for me, because I left schools colleges 14years ago hehehhee, not familiar well with structure of essay, but I know well how to write letter thats good for me. even my writing is not good, 12years of experience in IT field never wrote anything on paper, just used computers and printers.... I tried lots to get back my writing style and good hand writing too... my exams on may 8th 2010... uhh...
